Case File: Gannon Stauch

In 2020, Gannon Stauch, 11, was living in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

His stepmother, Letecia, was becoming more resentful of having to care for him and his younger sister, Laina, while their father, Al Stauch, was away from home due to military training.

On January 27th, 2020, Letecia beat, stabbed, and shot Gannon in his bedroom. She concealed his body in a suitcase which she stacked other boxes and belongings on and cleaned his room before calling authorities to report him missing. Her version of events was suspicious from the beginning but there was not enough evidence to arrest her immediately. She managed to move the suitcase containing Gannon’s body to a remote area where she left it in the snow for several days before ultimately taking it with her to Florida, where she threw it off of a bridge.

Letecia was arrested in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on March 2nd, 2020. Gannon’s body was recovered in Pace, Florida on March 20th, 2020.

Letecia Stauch was found guilty of his murder on May 8th, 2023.
