Information Released In 2016

The FBI and the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from someone who alleges they saw someone matching Asha’s description enter a green car along NC Highway 18 near the location she was last seen by truck drivers - sightings the Sheriff’s Office believes to be accurate.

In May of 2016, they released information about this sighting to the public.

The car is described as:

  • Dark green.
  • Possibly an early-model 1970s Lincoln Mark IV or a Ford Thunderbird.
  • Having rust in or around the wheel wells.

Preponderance of evidence/food for thought:

  • If we assume an alleged sighting took place around 4:00-4:30am, it would be dark. How was this person able to see rust in/around the wheel wells?
  • Following the same logic, how were they able to determine the child entering this car was Asha?
  • Was the car dark green or could it have been a dark blue or dark grey or even black?
  • Looking at various 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s model American cars, there seems to be a good amount of cross over in body styles that are not exact, but close. Is it possible the witness actually saw another make/model? Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Buick, Ford, and the Nash Rambler all have similar (not exact) styling. If you look at mid-late 1960s models, the Ford Galaxie and Nash Rambler could also fit a loose description.
