Dan Crawford would ultimately go on to win the election. He was the Sheriff at the time Asha vanished.
Later an eye witness who alleged he saw Asha on Highway 18, Roy Blanton, Sr. was one of those who ran against Crawford. He also ran for Cleveland County Sheriff at least one time previous, in 1994.
